IHA’s newsletter features highlights and updates on our advocacy efforts, programs & initiatives, United Iroquois Shared Services (UISS) group purchasing updates, as well as what’s happening inside IHA. We want to take a moment to fill you in on all the association is doing thus far in 2022. We hope you enjoy this edition!
IHA proudly serves its members, representing their interests to state and federal lawmakers. As we prepare for what 2023 brings, IHA has begun executing its legislative and policy strategy using its data-driven advocacy to bring to light the current and enduring challenges our members face. On December 7, IHA President and CEO, Gary Fitzgerald participated in a press conference hosted by the Assembly Upstate Majority Delegation. The press conference was focused on the fiscal needs of Upstate hospitals and the workforce crisis that continues to build.
2022 has been a productive year for the IHA WIO team. We made improvements to caringgene.com and the site became available for our hospital members to post jobs and connect with applicants that have the Caring Gene®.
We are excited to announce that the Mother Cabrini Health Foundation (MCHF) has renewed our two grant programs to continue through 2023. This will be the third year of the Online Acute Care Training Program and the second year of the IHA Mother Cabrini Scholarship. We have also been working in collaboration with HCANYS to provide home care workers with online Diversity, Equity and Inclusion training. We would like to thank MCHF for its continued support and generosity.
Iroquois Healthcare Association has officially launched Upstate Works! An exclusive, members-only contingent staffing program that gives member hospitals the ability to decrease their reliance on high-cost traditional staffing agencies. Thereby cutting costs and providing the opportunity for greater staffing agency cost management.
While supply chain challenges continued during 2022, I’m proud to say that UISS and its partners Acurity and Premier helped IHA members to whether the storm by providing timely and relevant communications regarding supply chain disruptions, standing up commitment programs to help source medical surgical and pharmaceuticals such as ProvideGX and S2S and making strategic investments in domestic manufacturing to create additional capacity and provide product assurance so patient care needs could be met. These tools and resources were leveraged by the members to mitigate stock outs and keep their supply chains flowing, but the work didn’t end there.
In the last issue we started introducing you to the people that make IHA a team. Our team members are excited to share with you a little insight into who they are.
“Never underestimate the power of a small group of committed people to change the world. In fact, it is the only thing that ever has.” ~ Margaret Mead
As we all know, the most important asset of any organization are its employees. We are eager, experienced, full of positive energy, and we all believe in IHA and are committed to its mission - to serve as a resource and leader to support our members and the communities they serve through advocacy, education, information, cost-saving initiatives and business solutions. This is why we want you to get to know us.
In this issue you’ll learn that several of us have dogs, are left-handed, and enjoy a wide-array of activities outside of the office! Read more
